Good morning ladies and gentlemen, it has been a busy week. I made three new interesting friends on Instagram, one from Spain, one from up north and one who lives four miles from my home in flower mound, Texas. Continued chatting with others and even broke my own rules and guess what, that was a mistake.
I have always advised to read the chats very carefully and as to the use of words and symbols. The red flag raised was over the $ symbol and its placement. During the chat the sum of $500.00 came up more than once and always the lady I was chatting with when referring to the amount would use 500$, yes 500$ which is different from how we write the sum here in the USA . Regarding the dollar sign ($). Most English speaking and Latin American countries (e.G. $500.00) while in general many European and/or non-English speaking countries place their symbol after the number (e.G. 500$) it is common for people to write a currency symbol where their culture places it, regardless of it being correct or not. The person I was chatting with had resided her whole life in the western USA. (that friends is a red flag)
For this episode the subject I have chosen is an actual chat between myself and someone that I thought I had eliminated from my life because after many weeks of chat, I determined that she was a fake or scammer who was using a well known social media influencer’s photos and profile info. Her profile was not verified but she had a very good explanation for the non-verification which enabled her to communicate with selected friends and fans.
While the attached chat will seem long, it will not take much time to read and it will demonstrate the need to have a live video chat before you consent to share your wealth or send gift cards. Since it was copied using screenshots there will be possible overlaying of chats and there is I assure some misspelling and a free flow of language.
Enjoy the read!
