It has been quit a while since I posted a new episode of Mike Musings. Whilst I was away, I joined tiktok, my god…that site is infested with fake profile, they consists of fake actors and actresses, influencers and ladies who give massages with happy ending. Even had one send me a pricing schedule for services rendered. Guess tiktok is the new advertising venue for many fakes.
If someone from tiktok contacts you first, you have to be sure you know they are real, but if for any reason you accept a strangers follow/friend request what you get next is a direct message where they say hello or whatever, do the following: click on the photo icon as if you were going to send a photo – due to Tiktok security settings what you will get is the following message from tic tok- “This feature isn’t available in receiver’s country or region of origin” for accounts outside the USA. Now, if that not a red flag, guess I am color blind. This feature is one of the few good features of tiktok. The feature is important because there are many scammer and con artist working outside the good old USA.
“Please remember rule number one: do not send anything of value until you have had a live video chat with a liveness quality which is verified and acceptable to you”. Don’t be fooled by videos designed to seem live, Manny cams and bad connect! or where they are there but LVC is choppy, voice is breaking and you’re receiving diddly squat as far as proof that the person you are chatting with is real. Believe nothing of what you see written on the small screen and only, pay special attention to words spoken and facial expression and hope they in sync and as in playing poker – everyone has a tell so watch whom ever is on other end of LVC very carefully… Don’t be distracted by beauty, or handsome face. Another red flag is they will immediately want to go to another site such as Telegram, whatsapp, Snapchat, Instagram, sign l, Discord, tinder, bumble, hinge and even Facebook messenger, something different from where they met you. Be careful and give no personal info. In no time, trust me, they will come up with a situation that requires $$$. It may be foolish of me, but in the course of research I chat back and forth daily with fake influencers for almost a month before she came up with a situational crisis. One of them want me to wire some production costs to her partner who was in Canada working on a new clothing LINE. She claimed she had tried to wire funds but her bank was trying to do the wire transfer and could not connect to her pa (personal assistant) in Canada. she insisted that I wire $1,500.00 that she would wire me funds as soon as her bank solved their wire transfer problem. The no LVC no chat rule Number one was sent to her along with a statement that none of her story made sense…..She did not respond. What a scam!
I have been with a few health issues and took couple days off, I saw my doctor, Dr Monica…. got some new meds, got some physical therapy for my balance issues, I was diagnosed with nueroapathy sometimes ago….Enough said, I’m 81 year old and grey headed.
I should let you know that scammers have been buzzing my phones, sending unsolicited love letters on Instagram, Facebook and Threads which has a few of them but tiktok is the leader lol. For every 10 messages 8 are from fakes. Till date I have not encountered one real person on the app. My request for Liveness video chats are met with excuses with a “and don’t worry just send me gift cards we will do it as soon as I get home, shower and get all pretty for you.” You can only imagine the the many excuses that the scammers and con artists use. Just think – “What all would I say if I did show my face when it does not match the name of the person I am impersonating.” Scammers have favourite questions they ask, they’ll ask how old are you, where are you from, have you eaten, what are you plans for today, do you really care for me and can we move to WhatsApp or Telegram (or some other site as explained above).
Scammers and con artists, whether they be a man or woman are like a hooker eventually they will ask for an apple card or another one which is untraceable…..Please remember rule number one and and don’t ask how much, if you do and send the requested card – that is when you just got screwed without a kiss. Speaking of lack of being satisfied I must relate a true story which was told t me by an old rancher (he was a friend and client in the real state business) related to me in a bar one night. There was a young cowboy at the bar and he had been having a few cold beers and his mind turned to other pleasures and having his months pay in his pocket and wanted to play with the opposite sex. When the bartender approached him to refill his jug of beer he said no, then asked if there were a place he could satisfy his manly needs. Bartender smiled and said sure and gave him direction to a small white colored house 1th red trim which was withing walking distance. As our cowboy departed bartender warned him not to use up all the twenty dollar bills in his wallet, both laughed. Sure enough being a good cowboy and following directions the fund he found his desired destination within a few minutes. He raced up the front steps and knocked on the door. A sweety voice answered the knock and asked what he was looking for, desired he answered, saying the bartender had referred him and that he would like to pleasure himself, that he had been on the range for last 30 days and was in need of some relief. The sweet young lady on the other side of the big heavy red door responded “Just slip a twenty dollar bill through the mail slots and your wishes will be fulfilled. With a big grin on his tanned face he fumbled but managed to insert the $20 bill in the mail slot and stood there with baited breath and anticipation. He heard a dainty foot steps of someone come to the door. A short pause and the footsteps leaving the door was not unlocked or opened. Removing his hat and scratching his head, standing there with a perplexed look on his face he knocked on the door again. This time a not so sweet voice spoke and said – “What the hell you want now”. Red faced the cowboy blur ER out “I want to get fucked” the answer he got was classic “What, again” The story is really true and the lesson is also: send money via the internet in form of gift cards , they will be asked for more gift cards and later you realize what happened to you … you’d hear the inter voices saying “I just got fucked but not again” I hope this make you think, respond accordingly
One other thing when chatting with someone, in normal conversation where you make a statement or asks a question and in reel-time you get a response within a few seconds without a lag in chat for replies due to typing speeds which can take minute before getting a answer…. when answers come so fast within seconds without the typing space for words.. know they are making use of Al as they chat with you concurrently. If you sense the answers seem a little off key and lengthly, it is probably Al responding. The best thing to do is to ask a multi subject question, mention specific thing talked about in your chat and ask their opinion. If Al, you’d have what we in Texans call a long wind answer providing way to much information and justification.
I will say a couple of things I have observed with tiktok; at least when you first t begin chatting with someone there, hit the send photo: if the following appears on top of screen: ‘this feature ins’t available in receiver’s country or region of origin” that tells it all. They not in good old USA. Challenge them on it and they comes up with the excuse – they out of country, phone is new and the feature is not opened yet. The other thing is tictok is allowing scam recovery post from scammers who are trying to steal from who has been scammed before. I advise you to subscribe to services that are safer to use. A place like scamcatcherapp is where you can find, report and recover funds from scammer for a little annual subscription only.

Guess the best advice I can give is that no matter how many time you chat with someone, always ask for a live video chat and refuse to rush into any relationship.
